About Us

The Founders

Originally from Minnesota and now living in Cave Creek, our family has called this town home since 2011, raising two daughters here from childhood on. Dad is an Engineer turned Entrepreneur who lost all the family money a few times before things finally worked out on the fourth try with a sale of the family business in 2015. Mom is a Dietitian by trade but today spends her days hiking the beautiful trails in our area while overseeing day-to-day operations of a busy household.

From birthdays at Big Earls to line dancing at Harolds and bull riding at Buffalo Chip, Cave Creek continues to serve as a special place for our family.

After selling the business, Dad stumbled into an opportunity to purchase some land down the street from home with no real game plan for what comes next. As the kids worked their way through high school, it became clear that our little Cave Creek secret is no longer a secret and serious development was knocking at our door. It turns out that many people want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life filled with crowded roads and HOA neighborhoods, instead opting for our quaint community where people still wave to their neighbors as they pass on local neighborhood streets.

Creeker Development was created to help shape this inevitable development….the right way…the Cave Creek way.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple: honor the past while building developments that our community will be proud of for the next 100 years.

So what exactly does that mean?

01

One with the land

Dad puts on his snake boots, grabs his walking stick, and hikes every piece of land we develop personally to determine how to build homes on five acre lots with the least amount of impact on our natural desert terrain. Our approach is more expensive, time consuming, and harder to permit…but we don't care because it's the right thing to do.

02

Build safe private roads that will last

If we had it our way, every road in Cave Creek including the driveway to our own personal residence would be made of dirt and be 10 feet wide. Horses would still be hitched to the hitching post at Harolds and there would be no vehicle traffic. Unfortunately, those days have passed, and we're stuck with a constant parade of Amazon trucks, Door Dash drivers, and construction vehicle traffic traversing every nook and cranny of our community.

Here's a quick Mom story that will explain Creeker's road design methodology. Our personal driveway is 15' wide and has a blind hill at the top (very common situation in our community). Amazon truck comes blasting over the hill and almost collides with our 17-year-old daughter heading to school. Mom comes storming in the house and states the obvious…"Dad, our driveway is not safe".

Needless to say, Creeker Development builds our private roads 20 feet wide so two vehicles can safely pass. We also try to avoid blind corners and blind hills if possible. Our roads are built with 3" thick asphalt (most private roads are 2" because it's cheaper) so they last and will look nice for years to come. Again, our approach is more expensive, time consuming, and harder to permit….but we don't care because it's the right thing to do.

03

Your views are our responsibility

People in Cave Creek enjoy views of the most beautiful natural terrain in all of Arizona. Every lot in our development is specifically designed to maximize these views, before cost. We obsess about creating the best views for every single lot and simulate exactly what each future homeowner will experience from their main patio view prior to finalizing the development plan. Dad has been known to drag a 13 foot ladder across raw desert for a half mile just to climb up and personally experience that sunset view for a future home site so lot lines and setbacks are "just right."

04

Your privacy is our responsibility

Despite our friendly Cave Creek nature, we tend to appreciate large lot sizes because we value privacy, peace, and quiet. To that end, proper land planning is a critical step in our process not only for one specific lot but for all the lots and homes that will be built around it. Creeker Development makes a substantial investment working with civil engineers, architects, and attorneys meticulously planning out the entire development before any dirt moves. Deed restrictions are used to ensure proper building envelopes and reasonable building standards exist for each homesite protecting view corridors and property values for the entire community.

05

No HOAs

Simply put, we do not believe in HOAs.

06

Do business the right way

Maybe this is wishful thinking, but we're hanging onto hope that a handshake still means something in our crazy world. Like the good old days, we believe your word is more important than the contracts governing your relationship. We don't get it right all the time, but we try to do business with honorable businesses and the honest owners and employees who operate them. Our preferred builders are vetted and have proven to be top tier builders and human beings, holding themselves accountable to high standards. They share Creeker Development's traditional values and are not satisfied until their customers are satisfied.

Our owners are building luxury homes that require a life's work to afford, and we want every single person who walks out their front door to say to themselves….

“Wow, I'm lucky to have stumbled onto this little development.”

Truth be told, that's how most of us Creekers feel every day.
